When you leave
Two copies of your official transcript will be sent to your home university - one copy for you and one copy for your university. These will be sent in mid July (for Semester 1 study) or mid January (for Semester 2 study) so please contact your Study Abroad Advisor at your university after this time.
Checklist
Things to do before you leave:
-
Update your 'contact' address from Perth to your home country. This can be done via OASIS and is important in case the University needs to contact you.
-
Cancel any 'utilities' that you may have here in Australia. For example, ensure that your phone has been cancelled and that any electricity/gas accounts (for those students living off campus) have been cancelled.
-
Any outstanding debts must be paid prior to you departing Perth. Any debts will result in a sanction being placed on your student account stopping the issuing of your academic transcripts. If you have any questions about these debts please contact either the Student Exchange Office or the area that is imposing the fine.
-
Please ensure that you have also returned any library books that you may have borrowed. Any books not returned will also result in a sanction being placed on your account and the University will not be able to release your transcript.
-
For those students who are travelling before returning home, please ensure that you have adequate travel insurance, as your Overseas Student Health Cover will only cover your health, not lost luggage, etc, and will not cover you outside of Australia. It is also important to remember to have a valid travel visa, if required, as your student visa does have an end date.
-
You may need to lodge a tax return if you have worked while in Australia. Visit the Australian Taxation Office website for further information.
-
You can also claim a refund, subject to certain conditions, of the goods and services tax (GST) and wine equalisation tax (WET) that you pay on goods you buy in Australia. For details please refer to the Australian Customs Service website.
