Inbound Study

Studying at curtin

Students interested in short-term study at Curtin University of Technology have three options available to them:

Student Exchange

An exchange program is a non-award program. This means that students may study at Curtin to gain academic credit towards their home university degree.

Students who are presently studying at one of Curtin's official exchange partner universities may apply for an exchange to Curtin. The exchange may be for one or two semesters, and is on a tuition waiver basis. Exchange students continue to pay tuition to their home universities, and do not pay tuition to Curtin. However, they are responsible for meeting all other costs associated with the exchange, including accommodation, living expenses, travel, visa costs and the compulsory health insurance all international students are required to have.

It is the students' responsibility to arrange credit transfer with their home institution.

Study Abroad

The Study Abroad program is similar to the exchange program, except students pay tuition for their studies to Curtin. Additionally, Study Abroad applicants are not required to be currently attending one of Curtin's partner universities, they can be attending any recognised educational institution abroad.

Students are responsible for meeting all other costs associated with the exchange, including accommodation, living expenses, travel, visa costs and the compulsory health insurance all international students are required to have.

Study Abroad students and programs are administered by the Divisions (Curtin Business School, Health Sciences, Humanities and Science and Engineering).

It is the students' responsibility to arrange credit transfer with their home institution.

Service Abroad

The Service Abroad program is similar to the Study Abroad program in that students take regular classes at Curtin, but in addition, Service Abroad students have a Community Service component to their study programs.

This program has been established to meet the requirements of many American Universities for their undergraduates to undertake some form of community engagement as part of their university studies, for credit or to meet graduation requirements.
